Some of you perhaps will recognize this character... Tracer from the Overwatch game.  She also showed up several times in the recent movie, "Ready Player One."
Recently, I was introduced to the new program from Allegorithmic... Substance Painter.  Additionally, during my early struggles to learn this new software, I came across a tutorial for it on the Lynda.com website.  In it, we were taught how to use Substance Painter in order to texture a model of Tracer's rapid-fire blaster.
From my previous Maya experience, I actually took the geometry from the Lynda.com tutorial into Maya and cleaned up the geometry, trying to make sure everything was "quadded."  Once I was satisfied with the corrections, I exported the geo as an FBX file and imported it into Substance Painter.
I was a little uncertain of my skills, at first.  I had experienced the same uncertainty with Maya when I had first started using that software, but I kept at it, improving my overall skills.  The same with Substance Painter.  Once I had the textures to my liking, I exported them back into Maya for the final application and render.
Not bad for my first effort using Substance Painter!  For all you Overwatch gamers out there, let me know what you think!
